Leading as a woman
What it means to lead in a world still built for a different model — visibility without self-diminishment.
Leadership norms were written for a different default. Much of what women in leadership deal with is therefore not a skills gap — it is the friction of operating inside a model that was not designed with them in mind.
We start with the quiet themes: imposter feelings that grow rather than shrink with seniority, the double bind between 'too much' and 'not enough', being liked versus being respected, and the invisible extra work of managing how you are perceived.
Then we name the hidden tax of female leadership: the emotional labor, the unpaid mentoring, the expectation to keep everyone comfortable, and the mental load of representing a whole gender in a room. Making this visible is the first step toward choosing what you will and will not carry.
Self-worth under pressure comes next. We work on how to hold a position when it is questioned, how to take up space in a room without performing someone else's version of authority, and how to be visible without either shrinking or over-explaining.
A core part of the session is integration rather than choice: the so-called masculine qualities (decisiveness, directness, structure) and feminine qualities (attunement, relationship, intuition) are both leadership assets. We practise switching between them consciously instead of defaulting to whichever one feels safest.
We also look outward: how to build strategic alliances, where to find sponsors rather than just mentors, and how to say no gracefully while protecting relationships that matter. Boundaries are not a personality trait — they are a leadership skill.
The group works with real situations from participants' own weeks. People leave with language for what they previously only felt, a leadership narrative they can use in rooms where they need to establish authority, and a version of leadership that feels like themselves rather than a mask.
